as I have loved you.
TEACHER’S OBJECTIVE
To encourage the children to love one another.
CENTRAL TRUTH
Your demonstration of love will show that you are a disciple.
INTRODUCTION
Jesus gave us many commandments in the Bible. Can you name them? (Allow children to name
them). Now listen as we learn a new commandment which Jesus gave.
PROGRESSION OF EVENTS
1. The Pharisees asked Jesus of the greatest of the commandments.
2. Jesus replied that the first commandment is to love God with our heart, soul and mind.

4. Later Jesus told his disciples that people will know them as disciples if they love one another.

MESSAGE OF SALVATION
You cannot love like God with your own power. You must be born again. Receive Jesus as your
Lord and Personal Saviour.
CONCLUSION
Jesus new commandment is love. Love God, love your neighbour.
CHALLENGE
When you love others, this shows that you are a disciple.
INVITATION

and receive the power to love others.

A CITY ON A HILL
TEXT: Matthew 5:14-16
MEMORY VERSE: Matthew 5:14 “you are the Light of the world. A city that is set on a hill
cannot be hid.”
TEACHER’S OBJECTIVE
1. To let the children know that they cannot be hidden, they are a city on a hill.
2. You must let your light shine.
CENTRAL TRUTH
You are a city on a hill.
INTRODUCTION
Can you hide a city that is sitting on top of a hill? Its light at night can be seen for miles. I
once traveled to Abeokuta in Ogun State and I saw some houses on rocks. Right from the
house on top of the rock you can see the whole of the town. If we live for Christ, we will glow
like lights, showing others what Christ is like. We hide our lights by (1) Being quiet when we
should speak, (2) going along with the crowd, (3) denying the light, (4) letting sin dim our light;
(5) not explaining our light to others or (6) ignoring the needs of others. Is a beacon of truth
don’t shut your light off from the rest of the world?
PROGRESSION OF EVENTS
1. A city on a hill could be described as a city on a very high place. It is visible to anyone from
any angle. That is you can see it from anywhere.
2. It does not have any secret and therefore anybody can talk or give comment about it.
3. The city on a hill is close to heaven (Matthew 6:19-21). Therefore it is difficult for
enemies to attack them.
4. They don’t sin because everyone will easily recognize them.
5. It is close to receive blessings. Isaiah 41:18.
LIFE APPLICATION
You are the city on the hill and your life must attract others. You should not play with sin
because people will easily recognize you and by so doing you are bringing shame to god’s
name. Anytime you sin or do something bad all eyes would be on you.
CONCLUSION
Let your light shine by being full of good works.
INVITATION
Accept the Lord Jesus into your heart and you will be a city on a hill.
QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
1. How can you let your light shine? By being full of good works.
2. What can him your light from shining? Sin.
3. What is sin? Disobedience to God
4. Give examples of sin. Stealing, fighting, telling lies, disobedience to parents and
teachers, getting angry. Etc.
5. Say the Memory Verse.
ACTIVITY
Children to colour the city on the hill.
DAILY DEVOTION

BE BORN AGAIN – PART 1
TEXT: John 3:1-21
MEMORY VERSE: John 3:36 “Except a man be again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
TEACHER’S OBJECTIVE
1. Children should know that no sinner will go to heaven.
2. Children should understand the fact that God is merciful to forgive our sins.
3. Children should be exposed to the reality of Heaven and Hell.
CENTRAL TRUTH
All have sinned.
INTRODUCTION
Star the lesson a song:
Jesus said to Nicodemus: you must be born again.
PROGRESSION OF EVENTS
1. At night a ruler of the Jews came to Jesus (John 3:1)
2. This same man though educated yet lacks the knowledge of salvation John 3:2.
3. Jesus told him except a man be born again he cannot see the kingdom of God. John 3:3.
4. Nicodemus did not understand the saying of our Lord Jesus and Jesus explained to
him. John 3: 4-15.
5. To be born again is to confess and forsake one’s sins and accepting Christ as one’s
Lord and Personal Saviour. To enter the kingdom of God the requirements are repentance and
spiritual rebirth. John 3:5.
APPLICATION
God is a merciful and loving Father who does not want anyone to perish. God paid dearly with
the life of his Son, the highest price he could pay. Jesus accepted our punishment, paid the
price for our sins, and then offered us the new life he bought for us. Jesus died for all.
Confess your sins today and let him come into your heart.
INVITATION
Only those who give their lives to Christ will enter into the Kingdom of God. So give him
your life today tomorrow may be too late.
CHALLENGES
Nicodemus was a learned teacher but he still came to Jesus to be taught. No matter how
intelligent and well educated you are, you must come to Jesus with an open mind and heart so
he can teach you the truth about God. Knowledge is not salvation. You should know the Bible,
but even more important, you should understand the God it reveals and the salvation He
offers.

TUESDAY – John 3:17 – Jesus came to Save us
WEDNESDAY – John 3:18 – Jesus is the only begotten Son of God.

MEMORY VERSE: John 3:3 “Jesus answered and said unto him, verily, verily, I say unto thee,
except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God”.
TEACHER’S OBJECTIVE
1. Children should know that there is no other way to reach the kingdom of God except
through Jesus Christ.
2. Children should be exposed to the steps involved in Salvation.
CENTRAL TRUTH
Jesus Christ is the only source of new life (Salvation).
INTRODUCTION
Teacher calls a child or member of the class to remind him or her of the previous week’s
lessons.
Sing the song Jesus said to Nicodemus you must be born again.
PROGRESSION OF EVENTS
1. All have sinned – Romans 3:23
2. You cannot save yourself – Romans 6:23

5. Receive Jesus into your life – John 1:12.
6. You will be given power to become a child of God.
7. You will become a New creature- 2 Corinthians 5; 17.
APPLICATION
All who welcome Jesus Christ as Lord of their lives are reborn spiritually, receiving new
life from God. Being born makes you physically alive and places you in your parent’s family.
Being reborn makes you spiritually alive and puts you in God’s family. Have you asked Jesus
Christ to make you a new person? This fresh start in life is available to all who believe in
Christ.
CHALLENGES
Jesus is the Son of God and by believing in Him we may have eternal life. John the Baptist
tells us about Jesus. If you have received Jesus you must tell others too.
INVITATION
Have you asked Jesus Christ to make you a new person? Ye must be born again. But as many
as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe
on his name. Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man,
but of God.

BE SALTY – PART 1
TEXT: Matthew 5:13
MEMORY VERSE: Matthew 5:13a “you are the salt of the earth.”
TEACHER’S OBJECTIVE
1. Identify salt and what it is used for.
2. State that “I am the salt of the earth”
3. Say that salt is good.
CENTRAL TRUTH
We are the salt of the earth.
INTRODUCTION
Whenever Mummy is cooking in the kitchen, have you ever seen her put some white particles in
the food. It is called salt. Without it, Mummy’s food will not be sweet.
PROGRESSION OF EVENTS
1. Salt is sweet and it is a preservative.
2. The Bible says that we are the salt of the earth. Meaning without the followers of
Jesus, life will not be sweet and it will be easily destroyed because there is no salt
(Preservative) to preserve it.
3. If a seasoning has no flavour, it has no value.
4. If Christians make no effort to affect the world around them, they are of little
value to God.
5. Christians are to salt the earth with the love and message of God, if not we become
useless to God.
6. If you as a Christian are not affecting the world around you then you will lose your savour.
7. You are thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out and to be trodden under foot of men.
LIFE APPLICATION
When you are salty, you will affect the lives around you, you will also be a seasoning and a
preservative to them. You are to salt the earth with the Love and message of God. You are to
affect others positively, just as seasoning brings out the best flavor in food.
MESSAGE OF SALVATION
It is only when Jesus is in your life that you can be the salt of the earth. Without Jesus
in your life you cannot impact others positively.
CONCLUSION
If you are salty, you are just like a shining light that has effect on everything around. You will
affect everything around you and you will also have long life since salt is a preservative.
CHALLENGE
Have you ever tasted food that has no salt in it? How does it taste? Tasteless! So is your
life if you refuse to be salty. No one will want to relate with you and you will be useless.
INVITATION
Jesus is the one that has the power to make your life salty, why not invite him into your heart
now and see what He will make of your life. (Teacher to lead the children in Salvation prayer).
QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
1. Say the memory verse.
2. What salt used for?
(a) It is used as seasoning to give taste and add flavour to food.
(b) It is also used as a preservative.
(c) It is also a Purifying agent.
NOTE: The teacher is to explain to the children what a preservative is and a purifying agent.
A preservative is something we use to keep food from going bad. A purifying agent is
something used to make something pure by removing dirt or harmful things.
DAILY DEVOTION

BE SALTY – PART 3
TEXT: Luke 14:34-35
MEMORY VERSE: Matthew 5:13a “you are the salt of the earth.”
TEACHER’S OBJECTIVE
1. To encourage the children to be salty.
2. Let the children know that salt can lose its flavour.
3. If salt loses its flavour it is thrown away.
CENTRAL TRUTH
If salt has lost its savour it is thrown away because it becomes useless.
INTRODUCTION
Salt can lose its flavour, when it gets wet and then dries; nothing is left but a tasteless
residue. How many of you would want more of a food that has no taste? Nobody.
PROGRESSION OF EVENTS
1. Salt is good, but where it loses its savour, it becomes useless. Nothing can be done
to make it sweet. Luke 14:34
2. Then the salt cannot even be useful for the dunghill or refuse bin, but men cast it
out. Luke 14:35.
3. This is a warning from Jesus telling us to be salty; He does not want us to be a cast away.
4. As children of God we should be like salt.
5. The Bible says you are the salt of the earth.
LIFE APPLICATION
Many Christians blend into the world and avoid the cost of standing up for Christ, but Jesus
says if Christians lose their distinctive saltiness, they become worthless. Just as salt flavours
and preserves food, we are to preserve the good in the world, help keep it from spoiling,
and bring new flavor to life. Being salty is not easy, but if a Christian fails in this function,
he fails to represent Christ in the world. How salty are you?
MESSAGE OF SALVATION
To be salty you must have Jesus in your life. He is the one that can help you to be salty.
CONCLUSION
Be salty, stand up for Jesus Christ, be different from the world. Do what is right, preserve
the good in the world and help keep it from spoiling by creating spiritual thirst and
exerting a purifying influence.

Jesus does not want you to be thrown away. He wants you to be useful. So you have to give
Him your heart and let Him save you. (Lead children in Salvation Prayer).

1. When Salt has lost its savour what can be done to it? Nothing, but it is thrown away.
2. What is salt used for:

1. Realize that he or she cannot serve two masters.
2. Choose Jesus Christ as his/her master.
CENTRAL TRUTH
You cannot serve two Masters.
INTRODUCTION
You cannot serve God and Money. You must choose whom you will serve either God or money?
PROGRESSION OF EVENTS
1. No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one. And love the other; or else
he will hold to one, and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money. Luke 16:13.
2. The Pharisees who heard these things were covetous and they derided Jesus. Luke 16:14.
3. If you justify yourself before men, God knows your heart, what is highly esteemed
among men is an abomination in the sight of God. Luke 16:15.
LIFE APPLICATION
Money has the power to take God’s place in your life. It can become your master. Money is a
hard master and a deceptive one. Money promises power and control, it cannot deliver. No
amount of money can provide health, happiness, or eternal life. It is better to let God be
your master. His servants have peace of mind and security both now and forever.
MESSAGE OF SALVATION
If you serve money the devil will be your master and you will end in hell fire. But if you serve
God, Jesus will be your master and he would take you to Heaven to be with God forever.

PROGRESSION OF EVENTS
1. There are two ways: a broad way and a narraw way.
2. The broad way leads to destruction, it is a wide gate and many people follow this
way – it is a sinful way.
3. The narrow way leads to Heaven and few people follow this way.
4. Those on the narrow way are those who believe in Jesus.
5. It is only those on the narrow road who will go to heaven.
APPLICATION
Get on the Narrow Road. The gateway to eternal life is called narrow. This does not mean it
is difficult to become a Christian, but that there is only one way to live eternally with
God and a few that decide to follow it. Believing in Jesus is the only way to heaven,
because he alone died for our sins and made us right before God. Living his way not be
popular, but it is true and right. Thank God there is one way!

Narrow way. At church you will know that Jesus said “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life;
no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
INVITATION

GOOD GROUND
TEXT: Matthew 13:3-8, 18-23
MEMORY VERSE: Luke 8:8 “And others fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an
hundredfold.”
TEACHER’S OBJECTIVE
To let the children know how things grow on a good ground.
CENTRAL TRUTH
The good ground is your heart on which the seed (word of God) falls.
INTRODUCTION
Teacher uses the illustration of a maize seed planted on humus soil and another on a clay
soil to show the importance of a good ground.
PROGRESSION OF EVENTS
1. Jesus told his disciples the parable of the sower.
2. The first set of seed fell by the wayside which means when one hears the word of God and the wicked one steals away the word.
3. The set that fell on the stony ground are the people that receive the word but because they
have no root in them problem make them turn their back.
4. The next set that received it among thorns are those that still love the world and its cares. This made them unfruitful.
5. The last sets are those that received the word on good ground. They understood.
LIFE APPLICATION
The seed sown is the word of God, the ground is our heart. Whether the word of God will
prosper in your life depends on the state of your heart. How do you receive the word of God
when you heart it? You believe it or not?
MESSAGE OF SALVATION
The Bible tells us that the heart of man is deceitful and desperately wicked.
Without Jesus our heart cannot be good or become good ground.
CHALLENGE

your mind, always ask the blood of Jesus to neutralize these evil thoughts (Weed). This will make
it clean for new fruits to spring up on your good ground.

If you want to have a honest and good heart, repent of your sins and determine to forsake
them, accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour and it shall be well with you.
QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

HELP THE POOR – PART 1
TEXT: Luke 19:19-31
MEMORY VERSE: Deuteronomy 15:11 “For the poor shall never cease out of the land.”
TEACHER’S OBJECTIVE
1. To let the children know that God wants us to help the poor.
2. To let the children know that there would always be poor people.
CENTRAL TRUTH
God expects the rich to help the poor.
INTRODUCTION
God is the creator of the rich and the poor. God cares for all God expects the rich to help
the poor. How many of you have seen a poor beggar before? Even little children go about
begging? Should we laugh at the poor? No we should help them.
PROGRESSION OF EVENTS

16:19-20.
2. The rich man did not help Lazarus, who was full of sores and the dog licked his

bossom, the rich man also died and was taken to hell. Luke 16:22-23a.
4. The rich man saw Lazarus a far off where he was in Abraham’s bosom, he cried for
water to cool his tongue but there was no help in hell. Luke 16:24.
5. Father Abraham told the rich man that during his lifetime he received good things
and Lazarus evil things, but now he is comforted and you are tormented.
6. The rich man was also told that there was a great gulf fixed, so that those who want
to pass from here to you cannot, nor can those from where he was pass to them.
LIFE APPLICATION
The rich man did not go to hell because of his wealth but because he was selfish with it. He
refused to feed Lazarus, take him in, or care for his health. He was hardhearted in spirit of his
great blessings. The amount of money we have is not as important as the way we use it. What
is your attitude toward your money and possessions? Do you hoard them selfishly for yourself,
or do you use them to help others?
MESSAGE OF SALVATION
If we don’t help the poor it would be counted as sin against us and one would end up in hell
like the rich man.
CONCLUSION
Help the poor with the blessings God has given to you.
CHALLENGE
God gives us riches and wealth so that we can help the poor around us. We must not be
selfish with what we have.

TELL THE GOOD NEWS
TEXT: John 4:1-42
MEMORY VERSE: Mark 16:15 “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”
CENTRAL TRUTH:
Tell others about Jesus.
TEACHER’S OBJECTIVE
1. Children should know the good news.
2. Children should be able to tell others the good news.
INTRODUCTION
Jesus told his disciples to go into all the world telling everyone that He paid the penalty for sin
and that those who believe in Him can be forgiven and live eternally with God. This is the
Good News; it is also called the gospel. Christian disciples today in all parts of the world
are preaching this Gospel to people who haven’t heard it. In our Bible text today a woman
was a witness for Jesus Christ and through her many people believed in Jesus. God wants
us to tell the Good News to others too.
Introduce the lesson by teaching the children the following song (Make sure the song is
visualized)
Stop and let me tell you,
What the Lord has done for me (2x)
He forgave my sin and
He saved my soul,
He cleansed my heart and
He made me whole,
Stop and let me tell you,
What the Lord has done for me.
Go and tell the story,
Of the Christ of Calvary (2X)
He’ll forgive their sins,
He will save their souls,
He’ll cleanse their hearts
He will make them whole,
Go and tell the story
Of the Christ of Calvary.
PROGRESSION OF EVENTS
1. Jesus spoke to a Samaritan woman; He told her that He was the Messiah.
2. The woman of Samaria wanted to fetch water at the well but after her discussion with
Jesus, she left her waterpot and ran to witness.
3. The Men of the city came to meet Jesus themselves after hearing the woman’s testimony.
4. Many believed in Jesus because of the woman’s speech.
5. And many more believed because of Jesus word.
6. And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying, for we have
heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.
7. God and tell others the Good News like this woman of Samaria.
LIFE APPLICATION
The Samaritan woman immediately shared her experience with others. Despite her reputation,
many took her invitation and came out to meet Jesus. Perhaps there are sins in our past of
which we are ashamed, but Christ changes us. As people see these changes, they become
curious; use these opportunities to introduce them to Christ.
MESSAGE OF SALVATION
Jesus died for our sins, He was buried but He arose on the third day. Those who believe in
Him can be forgiven and live eternally with God. (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). This is the Good News.
INVITATION
Have you believed in Jesus Christ the Saviour of the world? If you believe in Jesus you will
be forgiven of your sins and you would live eternally with God.”
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in
Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” John 3:16.
